From Porn Pastor to Plant Medicine: My Journey
How I went from fighting porn addiction to championing spiritual cannabis
For over 20 years, I was known as the “Porn Pastor.” I founded XXXchurch.com, traveled the world confronting the porn industry, and built a movement around sexual purity and recovery. I was the guy who showed up at porn conventions with “Jesus Loves Porn Stars” t-shirts.
Now I’m building a spiritual cannabis company.
People ask me all the time: “Craig, how did you go from fighting porn to selling weed?”
The answer is simple: I never changed. The mission did.
The Pattern
Looking back, there’s a clear pattern to everything I’ve built:
- Take something stigmatized
- Create space for honest conversation
- Challenge religious legalism
- Offer grace over judgment
- Help people find freedom
XXXchurch wasn’t about condemning porn stars. It was about loving them. It wasn’t about shaming people struggling with addiction. It was about offering a path to healing without religious baggage.
Spiritual Plants is the exact same mission — just a different plant.
The Turning Point
A few years ago, I hit a wall. Burnout. Exhaustion. Decades of ministry left me empty. The church world felt suffocating. The religious industrial complex felt hollow.
I needed to heal. I needed to find myself again. I needed something real.
That’s when I discovered cannabis — not as recreation, but as medicine. As a tool for meditation. As a way to quiet the noise and reconnect with God.
And I realized: I’m not the only Christian who feels this way.
The Opportunity
The cannabis industry is dominated by two narratives:
- Medical – Sterile, clinical, pharmaceutical
- Recreational – Party culture, escapism, “stoner” stereotypes
But there’s a third category that’s been completely ignored: Spiritual.
Cannabis has been used for thousands of years as a tool for prayer, meditation, worship, and connecting with the divine. Every major religion has a history with plant medicine. But modern Christianity has demonized it.
That ends now.
Why This Matters
There are millions of Christians, seekers, and spiritual people who are curious about cannabis but have been shut out by the industry’s lack of spiritual framing.
They don’t want to buy weed from a place called “Green Dragon” with Bob Marley posters on the wall. They don’t want to be treated like they’re doing something wrong. They want a brand that honors their faith while offering access to plant medicine.
That’s what Spiritual Plants is building.
The Platform
Spiritual Plants isn’t just one brand — it’s an ecosystem:
- Christian Cannabis – For believers reclaiming plant medicine
- Faith brands – Serving diverse spiritual communities
- Wellness brands – For mindful, intentional use
- Culture brands – For conscious consumers
Each brand speaks to a different audience. But all share the same core belief:
Cannabis is spiritual. Not medical. Not recreational. Spiritual.
The Future
I spent 20 years helping people find freedom from porn addiction. Now I’m helping people find freedom from religious stigma around plant medicine.
Same mission. Different plant.
And honestly? This feels like the most honest, aligned thing I’ve ever built.
Because God isn’t afraid of cannabis. Religion is.
